Songs Of The Day, a playlist by Johannes Kieper on Spotify
Hey folks!
Hope you’ve been doing great writing interesting songs so far.
Here is a new thing I want to introduce to you, which is the ‘song of the day.’
As often as I can, I will submit a song to you, which I find highly inspirational, and/or is interesting to analyze it for songwriting.
I just recently started taking closer looks at the songs I listen to and give them a more in-depth analysis, so I could make something out of them for my songwriting. Let’s face it, most of the possible stories have probably been told in any kind of way, and thus it means, that we just have to find our own unique ways to tell our stories in an exciting approach. It could be said with rich imagery, decisive vocabulary, or just great melodies. However, if we never listen to songs carefully, we might never get used to thinking/feeling this way. If you had never seen a picture by a great painter, how would you know what you could achieve immersing yourself into your work? I most certainly would still paint stickmen using crayons 😂.
So just give it a shot. Even if the songs that I present to you might not be of your interest or not that cohesive in genre or style. Looking beyond the horizon might result in you have much more creativity and inspiration while writing and not being stuck in the same old playlist that leads you to always writing the same four chords with the same story on your mind. And you might know the lyrics to some songs, all the others sing along to in the pub 🎶
So today’s song would be ‘All I want is you’ by the brilliant band U2. You might want to give it a listen, leave your feedback on what you think and in upcoming posts I will provide you with some of my thoughts to songs. I added to the Spotify playlist above. Head over to your lyrics page of choice to read along. Feel free to grab a pencil and a notebook to jot down noteworthy ideas and inspirational pictures that flicker in your mind.
So long all the best ❤️🎶
